'I'm getting constant stick' about the series concluding prior to my arrival.

England supporters in Australia

Sunshine, meat pies and world-famous cricket grounds - what else would an Three Lions follower possibly want?

Ideally, they'd want an Ashes series in Australia where they still have a chance to secure the famous trophy following the initial matches.

That will not be happening during this tour, after the hosts' dominant victory by 82 runs in Adelaide gave Australia 3-0 up for the fourth straight contest on their own soil.

England's famous supporters' group, the vocal contingent, have 3,000 fans traveling for the last two matches in the SCG and MCG.

There are also travel parties who will be vacationing down under, as well as loved ones heading for a dream holiday.

Fans with Booked Tickets

Four fans named Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie are a prime example.

The four siblings had their travel arrangements and match passes secured for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "well ahead of time", hoping to witness a rare England series success.

From afar, they've seen Australia dismantle the tourists in just under two weeks from their house in their hometown.

"Everyone at work has been making comments regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"Our expectation had been that we would have the series on the line still when we got there."

Lowered Expectations

Hope was abundant regarding the team's prospects of securing a first win in 15 years for a victory down under before it began.

However, the situation is now facing the prospect of continuing a barren spell in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the next match starts in Melbourne this week.

The England team - and their followers - will be hoping to sidestep a clean sweep.

It was mentioned that the "entertainment" of head coach Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' in recent years had "reinvigorated" the five-day game for English supporters.

Yet the fans said they had minimal hopes for the final two games - and all they are hoping for from the players is "a show of spirit".

"Commentators consistently points it out, but it all hinges on psychological strength. 'This style has been become a phrase now that is just, like, impractical batting," added Rory.

"Over the course of five days, you should hunker down. Playing at deliveries 'outside the line has not been part of the textbooks, and that is largely because of the top order."

Future Prospects

Asked whether he believed England will triumph in a Test in this contest, one fan responded: "The evidence suggests the hosts are a stronger side at the moment."

"There is going to have to be more than one player that makes a significant contribution and makes a big impact."

Even with the series lost, the fans are looking forward to the trip.

"It will be a fantastic experience anyway," said Katie. "Our approach is that outlook."

"Obviously it is disappointing we can't contest the series, but we have spent so much money already."

"We will make the most of celebrating the holidays in Australia. Additionally, it's a new experience for us traveling over Christmas."

A teacher, Katie is focused on enjoying the lengthy journey as part of her time off.

"As a backup plan, I can play golf to fall back on," she finished.
