🔗 Share this article Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a major film company and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide. Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4. The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it. Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will. Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4 An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes. Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)? Connections from the Last Installment At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit. Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group. Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
